Let it Snow!
This is a ski camp like no other, and a real highlight of the Camp XL year. Whether you fancy skiing or snowboarding, whether you’re experienced or a complete novice, if you're aged 12-18 you’re assured of a sensational week full of fun, laughter and thrills.
Days start with a hearty breakfast and are then filled with action and laughter on the slopes. (Don't worry if you’re new to winter sports. We'll arrange instruction for you and get you on the slopes in no time). Then it's back to our chalet in the pretty resort village of Adelboden for afternoon tea, and a well deserved rest before dinner and further fun in the evening.
In the evenings, after supper, we'll come together for a few minutes and see what it is that Christians believe, and why. This is a time discuss, question and explore. Whilst we expect a number of those attending to be Christians, many will certainlny not be. So whatever your background, you'll be ade very welcome and put very much at ease.
What if I've never skied or boarded before?
No worries! But you'll need to take lessons on at least the first couple of days, and we can hep you organise those for an additional cost. Most people find they are competent enough to access most areas of the mountain after that. Remember, being part of a group like this is a great and fun way to learn.
What does the price include?
If you plan to bring your own ski/snowboarding equipment, then the cost for you is £435. If, like most attending, you need us to arrange hire of that for you then the cost is £589*
Whichever the case, that price will cover your six-day lift pass, accommodation, meals, and local transfers. On top of that you'll need to allow for the cost of...
- International travel to/from Geneva airport (see the Travel section on this page)
- Winter sports insurance (see below), though many families already have this in their standard travel policies.
* If you are bringing some - but not all - of the equipment youll need (maybe you have your own boots, but still need to rent the skis), then ask us and we'll price it up accordingly for you.
Do I need insurance?
Yes, you do. Camp XL is covered by public liability insurance (ask us for details of this is you need to), but that won't pay for any medical expenses in the event that you have an accident out there. This is typically called "Winter Sports" cover. You'll you'll be required to show proof of cover for this before you ski with us.
You should also make sure you have a valid EHIC card which will give you access to basic outpatient services there in case you fall ill.
What if I'm not a Christian?
No problem! All of Camp XL's programmes are open people from all faiths and backgrounds.
We'll make sure we give you as much time as we can in the snow, then each evening we'll take some time to learn together what it is that Christians believe - and why.
Make of these brief times what you will, but we're confident you'll find them stimulating and engaging.
For this camp we're taking over a lovely chalet on the edge of the picturesque village of Adelboden, where you'll sleep in a small dorm alongside 4-6 others (same sex, of course!) on a proper full sized bed.
Adelboden is the perfect venue for a ski camp such as ours. Although it hosts the Word Cup Slalom circuit each year, it remains largely unknown by the packs of Ski tourists - and this means there is usually very little waiting time for chairlifts.
That, plus the fact that the resort boasts over 170km of runs to suit all abilities, and a high level glacier(which virtually assures snow in even the worst season), it's hard to beat.
Want to know more? You can visit the ski resort's official web site.
sorry - Coming soon!
We'll be meeting at Geneva airport on Monday April 2 at 18:00. The price of £595 includes the cost of the transfer out to our resort (and back again at the end), but you will need to make your own travel arrangements to/from Geneva. The easiest way is of course to fly, and there are many options available from all over the UK. But for those who's rather let the train take the strain, that's also possible!. If you’d like to fly, and would prefer to be on a flight with one of our adult team members, just check in with us and we’ll let you know which one to go for. Otherwise, book whichever is most convenient for you, but make sure it lands in Geneva no later than 17:30. That's on April 2!
For the return trip on Monday April 9, we will deliver you back to Geneva Airport by 15:30. Allowing 2 hours to check in and clear security, that means you can opt for any flight home with a departure time of 17:30 or later.
Ask us if you have doubts about this.
